BEAVERTON, Ore. (June 11, 2014) – Precision Aircraft Solutions has just signed an agreement with Canadian airline Cargojet to perform the world’s first 15-pallet passenger-to-freighter conversion of a winglet-modified 757-200 aircraft. The converted aircraft will fly long-distance routes in Canada, thereby benefitting from the fuel savings made possible by the winglets.
“By showing compatibility of the Precision modification with winglet-modified passenger aircraft, we have provided another option for our customers and opened up more feedstock for our program,” said Gary Warner, Precision president. “Owners of winglet-modified aircraft can now consider extending the life of their assets as a Precision freighter.”
The conversion will begin this month with redelivery later this year, and will take place in Goodyear, Ariz., at the facility of AeroTurbine, an esteemed Precision partner.
The project is a testament to the powerful new capabilities of the international conversion leader. On April 1 of this year, the Precision organization announced its restructuring in order to provide comprehensive aircraft modification services and support while continuing to pioneer its signature aircraft conversion programs. Today, four of its five subsidiaries ⎯ Precision Conversions, Precision Engineering, Precision Materials & Logistics and Precision Aviation ⎯ are collaborating on the project, which has entailed aircraft acquisition, extensive engineering and design, rigorous winglet certification, and oversight of parts manufacturing and kitting creation.
Precision’s internationally acclaimed conversion program has also produced the world’s only 15-pallet 757-200 freighter in operation. Over the last decade, 40 such freighters and one winglet-compatible combi aircraft have been redelivered to owners and operators in North and South America, Europe, Africa, India and the People’s Republic of China.
